How do I choose which one I would like to dedicate in someone's honor?
You will be prompted to make your choice during checkout.
How and when will my honoree receive their e-card?
During checkout, after you have chosen between a rose or roach, you will be asked to enter in your recipient's email address. E-cards will be sent on February 14.
Which animals will be eating the roaches?
Some of the animals include: Marnie the Marine Toad, Taz the Rhinoceros Iguana, and our Eastern Box Turtle cohort, Turner, Beyonce and Sherwin.
Can I name multiple roaches or dedicate multiple roses?
Yes! If you would like us to send more than one e-card, the easiest way to do so would be through separate transactions. However, for larger quantities, you may also make one larger donation and email Kaitlyn Miller, Annual Fund Manager, at kmiller@discoveryplace.org to discuss details.
Will the animals actually eat every roach or rose?
Our animals' health and wellbeing is our number one priority. Roses and roaches will be added to their balanced diet spread over time in accordance to our vets' nutritional guidance. Discovery Place reserves the right to limit rose or roach feedings at any time.
Are the roaches ethically sourced?
Some species populations of roaches at Discovery Place are several generations old and are already housed at the museum. Additional roach purchases are made from sources that are licensed and vetted for ethical treatment of their livestock according to industry standards.
